Rühstädt Visitor Centre (Besucherzentrum Rühstädt)

Every year over 30 pairs of white storks breed their young in the European Stork Village of Rühstädt. This makes the village on the River Elbe in Brandenburg home to the largest population of storks in Germany.

The Visitor Centre in the biosphere reserve has several exhibition rooms on the ground floor and is an ideal starting point for a stroll. There are many interesting facts about the stork in the NABU exhibition on the "globetrotting stork" ("Weltenbummler Adebar"). You can go live to watch our pair on the roof of the Visitor Centre when they return from the south at the beginning of April to nest and as they feed their young in June and July. The highlights in the life of the stork in the nest can be viewed in short videos – ranging from amusing to frightening. There is more information on biospheres in the courtyard and adjoining rooms.
