Heinz Sielmann Nature Conservation Centre at Wanninchen (Heinz-Sielmann-Naturerlebnis-Zentrum Wanninchen)

Information centre with a rolling programme of exhibitions and nature discovery zones, such as the bee trail, wildlife pond, vivarium, marshland path, boulder garden, nature school, workshop room and weekend café.

Follow the whooping call of the cranes, rediscover lost habitats, explore the fascinating life of bees, reptiles and bats – all this is possible in the nature discovery zones at the Wanninchen Nature Conservation Centre. It is located directly on Schlabendorfer See lake with a stunning view of Sielmann's beloved natural landscape of Wanninchen, a landscape which is reawakening to new life after decades of lignite mining. Vast lakes, bizarre dunes and new forests are emerging, creating a peaceful place of relaxation for people and a place of protection for nature. Apart from nature exhibitions, the exhibition centre documents the life and work of Heinz Sielmann, the world-famous wildlife photographer and his fascinating films. Visitors can recharge their batteries at the "Kranichstube" café which is open at the weekends.
